About the RFC
The Reproductive Freedom Caucus (RFC), formerly Pro-Choice Caucus, is the leading Congressional entity working to defend the right to abortion and preserve, protect, and expand access to affordable reproductive health services for all people. The caucus serves as the first line of defense against anti-abortion legislation, while also advancing a proactive vision of a reproductive freedom future and affordable, accessible reproductive health care for all. As extreme politicians attempt to roll back the clock on Americans’ reproductive rights, we are the Members of Congress standing loudly, proudly in the gap.
Since the 1990s, the Reproductive Freedom Caucus has been a leading voice on a broad range of issues that come before the House of Representatives, including contraception, family planning, abortion, preventive health care services, international reproductive rights, access to health care clinics, and biomedical research. In today’s Congress, we are charting a course forward to advance reproductive health and justice, while continuing to provide a bulwark against ongoing attacks to our reproductive rights using every tool we have: legislation and education, Congressional oversight and community outreach, communications and coalition-building.
The Reproductive Freedom Caucus has a long history of standing up against adversity. As we face near-constant attacks to the legality and accessibility of abortion care throughout the country, at both the state and federal level, we advocate that much harder for these critical issues in the halls of Congress. Our members are united by the belief that people—not politicians—should have the freedom to make their own health care decisions, including about abortion. Now standing over 160 Members strong, we are fighting each day for every American’s right to reproductive freedom and abortion access, wherever they live.
