Pro-Choice Caucus Co-Chairs Celebrate Electoral Victories for Reproductive Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Pro-Choice Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Barbara Lee (D-CA) released the following statement in response to electoral victories for reproductive rights in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia:

“Yesterday, from Ohio to Pennsylvania to Virginia, abortion was on the ballot.

Today, the right to abortion is enshrined in Ohio’s constitution. Reproductive freedom candidates have become representatives-elect across Virginia’s General Assembly. And a fierce protector of the right to choose is assuming a seat on Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court.

To those who fight against us: You can change the message as many times as you want. You can try to tell the people your bans are not bans, but the problem is not your message. It’s your vision.

The Pro-Choice Caucus shares the people’s vision for reproductive freedom in America — for a nation that protects their fundamental rights and freedoms, including the right to make their own medical decisions about abortion. And that will win out every time.”
