Pro-Choice Caucus Co-Chairs React to NDAA Conference Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Pro-Choice Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Barbara Lee (D-CA) released the following statement in response to the final FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) language:
“After months of attempting to hold national security funding for ransom to restrict servicemembers’ reproductive rights, the GOP has been forced to admit that the people are not on their side. We are pleased to see that the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act will move forward without the shameful, harmful addition of a partisan policy rider attempting to overturn the Department of Defense’s updated medical travel policy and further restrict access to abortion care for servicemembers and their families. But this fight is far from over.
Time and time again, the Pro-Choice Caucus has made clear that we must stand up for the fundamental freedoms of those who fight for ours, that poison pills do not belong in budget bills, and that attacks on the people’s fundamental freedom will fail. And our message will continue to ring out loudly in the halls of Congress until the people’s voices are finally heard. Keep your bans off our budget.”
