Pro-Choice Caucus Launches Know Your Rights Project

January 22, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Pro-Choice Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Barbara Lee (D-CA) announced the launch of the Know Your Rights Project:

On the 51-year anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, as Republican leadership touted its recent passage of anti-abortion legislation, the Pro-Choice Caucus launched the Know Your Rights Project. A first of its kind constituent services initiative, the Know Your Rights Project aims to equip participating Congressional offices to serve as sources of comprehensive, current, and community-specific information on reproductive rights protections and health care access in their districts.

“Today, while House Republicans continue to ignore the needs of our constituents and do nothing to address our nation’s reproductive health care crisis, our Caucus is taking action,” said Co-Chair Diana DeGette. “Again and again since Roe v. Wade fell, the American people have made their voices heard. We are listening. Our constituents deserve to have their reproductive freedom protected, not eroded. As their representatives, we pledge to serve them by ensuring they have the tools they need to defend and exercise their right to choose—right now.”

“We refuse to wait for the obstructionist, do-nothing GOP majority,” said Co-Chair Barbara Lee. “Even as they block us from restoring the protections of Roe v. Wade, even as they force through bill after bill of anti-freedom, anti-choice legislation and attach anti-abortion poison pills to their budget bills, they will not stop us from acting in the best interests of the people we serve. We will use every tool at our disposal, and create new tools where we must, to put our communities’ needs first and move closer to true reproductive freedom for all.”

In the coming weeks and months, the Pro-Choice Caucus will help its 160+ Members from across the country to roll out their own custom webpages with federal, state, and local reproductive rights and care resources. These pages will be the project’s first step toward equipping constituents in Pro-Choice Caucus Members’ communities with the information to protect and exercise their reproductive rights, no matter where they live. You can find the Pro-Choice Caucus Know Your Rights webpage here, which will be frequently updated with the full list of participating Members. You can find Co-Chair DeGette’s webpage here, and Co-Chair Lee’s webpage here.
