RFC Co-Chairs Condemn Passage of House GOP’s One Big, Ugly Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Reproductive Freedom Caucus (RFC) Co-Chairs Reps. Diana DeGette (CO-01) and Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) released the following statement condemning the House passage of Republicans’ one big, ugly budget bill and the extreme harm it will bring to reproductive health care access in America:
“Today, House Republicans sold out the American people. They took away prenatal and maternity care, stole birth control and cancer screenings, threatened Planned Parenthood health centers, patients, and providers in 200 communities - all to give billionaires yet another payday and Donald Trump a flashy photo op. This historic, repulsive transfer of wealth from working people to the top one percent will strip health coverage from 17 million Americans, eviscerating Medicaid as we know it and taking a wrecking ball to millions of patients' reproductive health care lifelines.
This Big Ugly Bill and the harms it will cause only add fuel to our fight. As Leader Hakeem Jeffries said after holding the line for the people for nearly nine hours, we will keep fighting until victory is won. Even with dark times ahead, we will never let up in our reproductive freedom mission. The American people deserve better, and we will press on, undaunted, to build the America you deserve.”
